Agnes Van Harpen, age 94, 1500 O'Day Street, Merrill, passed away May 14, 2008 at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill.
Agnes was born September 23, 1913 in Tomahawk, the daughter of Henry and Louise Gleisner. She married Henry Van Harpen on September 23, 1931 in Tomahawk; he passed away in 1980. Agnes lived in the Town of Tomahawk all of her married life, and was the Treasurer for the Town of Tomahawk for 23 years. She was a former cook for the Maple Birch Golf Course, Deer Trail, and St. Mary's Catholic School. She was an Honorable Member of the Joyful Homemakers' Club. She was a member of the St. Mary's Altar Society, and of the St. Theresa and St. Ann Circle. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and spending time with family.

Agnes is further survived by 26 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband - Henry, son - Peter, 4 brothers - Bernard, Martin, Lloyd, and Ralph Gleisner, 3 sisters - Sr. Mary Sylvina, Catherine Gleisner, and Veronica Gleisner, son-in-law - Delbert Gavin, and 1 granddaughter - Marie Renn, and 3 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Agnes Van Harpen will be held at Noon on Saturday, May 17, 2008 from St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson, Fr. Edward Powell, and Michele Rein will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at Noon. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
