Agnes “Pat” G. Bernhardt, 90, of Tomahawk, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at Country Terrace. Pat was born January 26, 1935, in Harrison, the daughter of Cornelius and Mary (Dirkx) Swan. Pat entered the Convent of the “Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother” at the age of 14, got her Bachelor’s Degree from Mount Mary College in 1968. Pat was an Elementary Teacher in Catholic Schools in Phillips, Tomahawk and in Denver for many years. After leaving the convent, she worked for a moving company and the Salvation Army in Denver for many years. She took ballroom dancing and entered many dance competitions.

In the mid 1970s, she was united in marriage to Samuel Bernhardt and he preceded her in death. After Sam’s death, she moved to Shakopee to be closer to family. While living there, she was pianist at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church. She loved dogs and went on long walks with Dolly, her neighbor’s dog. Pat moved from Shakopee to Tomahawk in 2019 and resided in Milestone Assisted Living. She played piano there and the residents had a weekly “Sing Along With Pat.” She later resided at Country Terrace until her death.

Surviving are her sisters, Bernadine Vandervest, Rhinelander; Mary (Joe) Zahringer, Tomahawk; brothers, John Swan, Merrill; Eugene (Ginny) Swan, Tomahawk; sister-in-law, Corrine Swan and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel; her twin brother, Peter Swan, sister, Frances Mabee; sister-in-law, Bettie Swan, brother-in-law, Jim Mabee, and brother-in-law, Larry Vandervest. 

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Dennis Dirkx Officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to time of service at church.
