Alfred Hintz

October 16, 1917 — June 9, 2014

Alfred Hintz, age 96, former Fifield resident, passed away peacefully in his sleep in Orlando, FL, on Monday, June 9, 2014. He was born in St. Paul, MN, on October 16, 1917, the son of Peter and Hilda Hintz. He was married to Irene Hintz in Phillips on October 9, 1940. The couple spent much of their 74-year marriage in the Fifield area.

Alfred worked in the woods as a logger for most of his working career. After retiring, Alfred enjoyed working on the ponds at their home south of Fifield, until he and Irene moved to Eau Claire. He spent his last remaining years studying the Bible and enjoying the sunshine in Florida. His health failed quickly after the passing of his wife, Irene.

He is survived by five children: Tusnelda (Jack) Steiger, Park Falls, James (Dee), Fifield, Alen (Joan), Sun Lakes, AZ, John (Nancy), Eau Claire, and Joyce (Paul) Vollmer, Orlando, FL; by 15 grandchildren; 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; by one brother George (Delores), Conover; and by one sister, Alma Norum, Racine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, on April 14, 2014; by one brother, Walter, and by one sister, Elsie Testin.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 14 at 11 a.m., at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Phillips with Rev. Christian Markle officiating. Interment was at the Forest Home Cemetery in Fifield.

The Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
