The Lord took Alvin "Pops" Burnett home for coffee on February 10, 2010. He passed away at his residence after a long battle with cancer.
Alvin was born April 27, 1939 in Rhinelander, the son of Anthony and Dorothy Burnett. He worked at Harley-Davidson in Tomahawk for 30 years, where he was affectionately known as "Poopsey". Pops enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, but especially loved watching the Milwaukee Brewers, and had a great love for baseball. He loved a big cup of coffee, good conversation, greasy burgers, and could find humor in most everything. He was a connoisseur of fine dining, and you could often find him at Tomahawk Family Restaurant or the Merrill Truck Stop. Pops quietly and courageously dealt with his illness on his own terms. Everyone who knew him felt lucky to call him "friend".
Alvin is survived by:
Beloved children Lynn "Sissy" (Derek) Archer Gleason Jim "Butchey" Burnett Tomahawk
3 sisters Florence (Gene) Cedzo Medford Rita Pringle Merrill Dorothy Johnson Eland
Brother Tom Burnett Waukesha
Former wife and friend Teresa Burnett Tomahawk
Pops is further survived by 4 granddogs. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters - Lila and Mary.
A Memorial Service for Alvin "Pops" Burnett will be held at a later date.
