Andrew E, Hernikl, age 82, 1550 Riverview Lane, Tomahawk, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk.
Andrew was born May 26, 1928 in Newburg, the son of Ignatius and Katherine (Agocs) Hernikl. He married Bernice Bykowski on January 1, 1950 in West Bend; she passed away on July 26, 2007. Andy was employed with Line Material in Barton - where he met his future wife, Bernice, and later worked for Mill Tool & Die in West Bend. He and Bernice moved to Tomahawk in 1989. He was a member of the NRA, member and former officer of the West Bend/Barton Sportsmans Club and Assistant Instructor of the Junior Rifle Team, and was involved with the Wisconsin Iron Brigade Civil War Reenactment Group. Andy was also a member of the Lake Nokomis Concerned Citizens, the American Legion, and St. Mary Catholic Church, where he also was an active volunteer. He also volunteered his time at Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Andy is further survived by 2 grandchildren - Jaime(Cory) Kordosky, Oshkosh, and Jacob Hernikl, Tomahawk. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife - Bernice, and son - Keith.
A Memorial Mass with Military Rites for Andy Hernikl will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2010 from St. Mary Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
