Arthur John Simon, Jr.
Arthur J. Simon, Jr. 83, Township of Hackett, died on Sunday, April 24, 2016, at his home.
He was born on March 8, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio. He spent his early life and schooling in Toledo., where he attended and graduated from Toledo High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from June 1952 to June 1956.
Following his military service he was employed as a fabricator before he came to Price County in 1969. He married Rose Hanson on October 27, 1984, in LaCrosse He owned and operated Bass Lake Tavern, Town of Spirit, then was employed as a fabricator for Industrial Products for 18 years retiring in 1998.
They made their home in the Town of Hackett in 1990. In his free time he was an avid fisherman enjoyed his pet dogs, outdoor activities, and in his younger years was an avid traveler.
He is survived by his wife Rose, Town of Hackett, by 2 daughters: Kathy and Kim of South Carolina, by 1`son Chris, Georgia, by 2 Step Daughters: Sharon and Pam, and by 1 brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, with Fr. Gerald Hagen officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Military Honors will be conducted by the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post #5778 and the Lane-Kreiling American Legion Post #122, both of Phillips.
The family suggests that memorials take the form of a donation to the local Humane Society in Arthur’s name.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, is in charge of the arrangements.
