Audrae V Kulas

November 23, 1928 — December 5, 2017

Audrae V. Kulas, age 89 of Land O’Lakes, WI died after a brief illness on Tuesday, December 5th at Rennes Health & Rehab Center in Rhinelander, WI. She was born on November 23, 1928 in St. Paul, MN the daughter of Otto and Frances (nee Briggs) Brodd. She is survived by Paul, her husband of 57 ½ years; daughter Kathrine (Jo); son Thomas (Paige); and her special “sister” in music Helen Townsend. Preceding her in passing were seven unique, furry and beloved family dogs.

Born and raised in St. Paul, MN the only child of Otto and Frances, Audrae met Paul while they were both teaching at Boscobel High School in WI. They later married and moved to Kaukauna, WI. While there, she taught elementary school vocal music, was choir director and pianist for Immanuel U.C.C., participated in many community theater productions and enjoyed singing as a member of the chaminade women’s choir.

After retirement, she and Paul moved to the Northwoods. It was there she met her “sister-in-music” organist Helen Townsend and a friendship was born which created over 25 years of truly magical musical moments still remembered by people today.

One would rarely find Audrae not doing something. Her interests led her to become a certified Piano tuner, creator of stained glass works, and wood worker, creating many furniture pieces for their home.

Besides her musical legacy, she and the ladies of the Goodwill Society of Boulder Junction made an estimated 600 teddy bears that were given to emergency services and hospitals for children in need.

We miss you so…”Omnia mutantur, nihil interit”-OVID

Upon her wishes cremation took place and private family services will be held.
