Barbara A. Smith, age 86, long-time Tomahawk resident, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Barbara was born April 16, 1926 in Harrison, the third of twelve children born to Henry and Wilhelmina (Schoone) Renn. She married LeRoy 'Todd' Smith on April 23, 1949 in Harrison; he passed away May 26, 2011. Barbara worked as a CNA at Sacred Heart Hospital from 1968 - 1971. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she volunteered in the Thrift Cellar and was a former member of the choir. She also volunteered with the local chapter of the American Red Cross. Survivors include: Children Cathy (Ron) Stange Rothschild Robert (Debbie) Smith Spanaway, Washington Steve (Karen) Smith Wisconsin Rapids Greg (Laurie) Smith Merrill Brothers Charles (Arlene) Renn Tomahawk John (Estelle) Renn Harrison Henry (Hermina) Renn Appleton Peter (Kathy) Renn Harrison Paul Renn Harrison Sisters Wilhelmina (Gerald) Roberts Tomahawk Sister Frances Renn New Jersey Isabel (Neal) Olkives Rib Lake Mary (George) Sladek Merrill Barbara is further survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband - Todd, sister - Johanna Renn, brother - Hubert 'Butch' Renn. A Mass of Christian Burial for Barbara Smith will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at Krueger Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 24th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
