Bernard “B.J.” Opichka, age 70 of St. Germain, WI was received by his Lord into eternal life under the care of Ministry Dr. Kate Hospice at his residence on Wednesday, July 27th. B.J. was born on June 14, 1946 in Wausau, WI the son of Clarence and Genevieve (nee Stencil) Opichka. He entered the United States Marine Corps in 1963 and served 3 terms in Vietnam. B.J. married Cindy Schoen on May 23, 1980.
B.J. worked as a truck driver for Kolbe & Kolbe Millwork for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 114 in Eagle River, WI and enjoyed woodworking, riding his motorcycle and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy of St. Germain, WI and by Children: Sherri (Dan) Begovich of Henderson, NV; Tricia Meyer of Wausau, WI and Jason (Crystal) Opichka of Chelsea, OK and by his Grandchildren: Marilyn (Caleb) Harris, Ryan Cooper, Ariel Cooper, Nicholas Barnhardt, Allex Meyer, Devin and Mikah Opichka. Further survived by 2 Brothers: William (Theresa) Stencil and Glen (Marlene) Opichka and by Step-Brother, Ron (Corey) Longley and by his Stepmother, Cecile (Henry) Slaughter and adored pet and constant companion, Madison.
B.J. was preceded in death by his Parents; Clarence and Genevieve Opichka and infant brother, Peter and his Sister, Carol.
Celebration of Life Service for B.J. will be held on Saturday, August 6th at St. Germain Evangelical Free Church at 11:00 AM with a Memorial Gathering from 10:00 AM till time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of B.J. can be given to his family for designation at a later date.
