Bernice Frances Hernikl, passed away July 26, 2007 while driving home from Minneapolis following a life-long dream trip to Alaska.
Bernice was born April 2, 1928 in Milwaukee to Walter and Theresa Bykowski. Bernice was an active former member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and a graduate of Riverside High School in Milwaukee. Following graduation, she moved to West Bend, where she met and married Andrew Hernikl and raised their four children - Linda, Kenneth, Keith, and Terri.
Bernice was a stay at home mom until Keith entered grade school, when she gained employment with Montgomery Ward, and later with the West Bend Company, where she worked until her retirement.
In 1980, Andy and Bernice bought the Mistletoe Inn in Tomahawk, with their son Keith managing the business. In 1990, Andy and Bernice moved to Tomahawk permanently to live out their golden years in the beautiful northwoods of Wisconsin.
Bernice was a very active volunteer and tirelessly put her service to the Lord and family before herself. She was a very dedicated volunteer for St. Mary's Catholic Church and School, involved with the Civil War Re-enactment Group in West Bend, a volunteer with Sacred Heart Hospital, and was also active with various civic activities in Tomahawk.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents and her youngest son - Keith on December 23, 2006.
A Memorial Mass for Bernice Hernikl will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2007 from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday the 17th from noon until the hour of Mass at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
