Bessie Gengler, age 92, Tomahawk, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Golden Living Center - Riverview in Tomahawk.
Bessie was born April 11, 1919 in Tomahawk, the daughter of Rex and Bessie (Belle) Brown. She moved to Marseilles, Illinois at the age of 18, and married Arlie Prentice Lough on June 4, 1942; he passed away March 3, 1981. They lived in Houston, Texas for many years before returning to Illinois, settling in Yorkville. She worked there as a bank teller until her retirement. Bessie remarried on November 2, 1986 to Howard Gengler. They spent the winter months in Bonita Springs, Florida, and took many trips and cruises until Howard's death on April 19, 2003.

Bessie is further survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, step sons - Stan and John, brothers - Tom, John, Louis, Joe, Burnell, Ashton, and James, sisters - Mary Eakman and Bertha Deluge.
Bessie never had any children, and spent many years taking in children and helping families who needed assistance. She remained in Yorkville with the help of her neighbors and best friends - Jim & Hazel Spencer. She returned to Tomahawk in September 2010, and resided at Golden Living Center - Riverview in Tomahawk.
Funeral Services for Bessie Gengler will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from Krueger Family Funeral Home in Tomahawk. Rev. Allen Christensen will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Elmwood Cemetery in Yorkville, Illinois.
