Bette L. Rosenthal, age 87 of Woodruff, WI died on Monday, February 19th at Avanti Health and Rehab Center in Minocqua, WI. Bette was born on February 10, 1931 in Delafield, WI the daughter of Maj. Edison and Betty (nee Smythe) Lerch. Bette attended school in Delafield, Waukesha and also at Frances Shimer College. Bette grew up on the campus of St. John’s Military Academy in Delafield WI, a school her grandfather, Rev.Sydney Smythe founded. There she met and married, her husband, Richard A. Rosenthal on July 22, 1950.
Together they raised 4 children while moving from Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, Upstate New York and Connecticut. She was a beloved mother and friend to many but her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Sharing her love of travel with them, they traveled from Mexico to Italy to Africa making treasured memories.
She was a Deacon of the Community Presbyterian Church of Lac du Flambeau and was an active volunteer for many causes including the Lakeland Food Pantry and Caritas and a longtime member of the Lac du Flambeau Lion’s Club.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Richard Sr. of Woodruff, WI and by her children; Richard (Patricia) Rosenthal Jr. of Sante Fe, NM; Barbara (Vector) Hoffman of Arbor Vitae, WI; Guy (Rev. Kyle) Rosenthal of Wheaton, IL and by grandchildren; Andrew and David (Dina Higa) Wilson, Christopher, Michael (Stephanie) Rosenthal, Quinn, Cameron and Nell Rosenthal and great grandchildren; Reese and Harrison Rosenthal. Bette is further survived by 2 Sisters; Geraldine Relish and Patricia Sasser and by other relatives and friends.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Sidney Jean and her daughter, Linda.
Memorial Service for Bette will be held on Saturday, April 14th at 11:00 AM at the Community Presbyterian Church in Lac du Flambeau, WI.
