BETTY HOPKINS
Betty G. Hopkins, 97, Phillips, WI, formerly of Elgin, Illinois, passed away on February 2, 2015, at the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips. She was born November 22, 1917, in DeKalb, IL, to Ronald and Sylvia (Tweed) Wilkin. She lived in Elgin most of her life, and was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer of Elgin. She was a 1936 graduate of the Elgin High School. For 21 years she was employed at Elgin National Watch Co.. She later was a Secretary for I.D.O.T. Materials Lab in Elgin, retiring in 1980.
Survivors include one son, Ronald J. Thompson, Charleston, IL; daughter-in-law Karen A. Thompson, Phillips, WI; stepson Larry (Beverly) Hopkins, Missouri; grandson Thomas E. (Jane) Thompson, Geneva, IL; step grandson Scott Hopkins, Missouri; 2 great grandchildren, Abby and Brady Thompson; two step-great-grandchildren, Amber and Joseph Hopkins; many cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Philip T. Thompson in 1984 and Howard F. Hopkins in 2000; by one son Thomas Norman Thompson in 2003; by one brother, Lt. Ronald W. Wilkin, Bombardier, MIA in WW II in 1945.
A private burial will be held in Fairview Park Cemetery in De Kalb, IL. The family suggest that memorials take the form of a donation to Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 40 Center St., Elgin, IL 60120
