Betty L. Malis, age 90, 13 Pine Ridge Lane, Tomahawk, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Golden Living Center - Riverview in Tomahawk.
Betty was born November 2, 1919 in Chicago, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Stein) Haendler. She met Edward J. Malis while working at Oscar Meyer in Chicago, and married him four months later on July 5, 1946. Edward passed away in December 1997. She loved her cabin at Pell Lake in Lake Geneva, and spent many summers there with her children and friends. Betty and Edward moved from Chicago to Tomahawk in 1993. Betty made gold leaf books, enjoyed reading, and was very fond of cats, especially her pet cat - Teddy.

Betty is further survived by 5 grandchildren - Christopher and Remy Gossen, Elizabeth (Scott) Kirschner, and Kallie and Eddie Malis. Locally, A Celebration of Betty's Life will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the Lobby area of the Rodeway Inn in Tomahawk. Funeral Services for Betty Malis will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010 from Montclair - Lucanin Funeral Home in Chicago. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, Illinois.
