BILLY JOE ‘BJ’ ARCHER
Billy Joe “BJ” Archer, 75, Catawba, Wi., died on Friday, October 14, 2016, at the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips, while under the care of Flambeau Home Health Care and his family.
He was born on July 3, 1941, in Oaktown, Indiana the son of William Moses and Nellie Ruth (Bennett) Archer.
He spent his early life and schooling in Indiana.
Billy Joe married Lorene Hladish on March 30, 1968. They made their home in the Phillips/Catawba area where they owned and operated Archer’s Lake Ten Campground. He also drove a semi over the road for many companies then became an owner/operator. He logged millions of miles across the United States.
When asked where his favorite place to go on the road was, he replied home.
He was a member of the F &AM Masonic Lodge #225, Phillips.
He is survived by his wife Lorene Archer, a daughter Jolene (Mike) Kennedy Westboro, Wi., by 3 sons: Marty (Trish) Archer, Marshfield, Wi., Billy Moore, Indiana, and Gary Moore, Texas, by 3 grandchildren: Mitch and Harley DeLasky, and Jordanah Pankratz, .
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Percy (Bud) Archer, Harlan (Brownie) Archer, and John (Lindy) Archer, and by seven sisters: Nellie Ruth Meeks, Violet Padgett, Martha Dawn, Betty Ann Kirk, Mary Lou Hardesty, Delores Warth and Jean Beaman.
A Masonic service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 23, 2016, at the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips by the F & AM Masonic Lodge #225, Phillips conducting.
Friends may call at the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips on Sunday, October 23, 2016, from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
