Brenda L. Nelson

Brenda L. Nelson, age 47, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018. Brenda was born Sept. 22, 1971, in Ishpeming, Mich., the daugther of Michael J. Nelson (Doreen), and the late Sharlene (Tatrault) Beekman.
Brenda grew up and attended school in Ishpeming and spent most of her adult life in the Minocqua and Madison areas. She attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth and Madison Area Technical College.
Brenda was a huge Green Bay Packers fan, cheering on the Green and Gold every Sunday. She loved her two dogs, Persephone and Zeus, both named after Brenda’s favorite Greek mythology characters. She spent much of her spare time diving into her extensive book collection.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Audrianna (Daniel) Bortz and her 10-month-old granddaughter Charlotte C. Bortz, of Gillette, Wyo., her close friend Arthur Ziesemer of Three Lakes, uncle David Koski of Woodruff, one sister Tina (Allen) Johnson, of Ishpeming, Mich., one brother Michael Nelson of Athens, her father Michael Nelson of Ishpeming, and four nieces and two nephews. Brenda was preceded in death by her mother Sharlene, aunt Charlotte Koski of Woodruff, and niece Michaela Nelson.
A memorial service will be held in the summer of 2019.
