Carl J. Hocher, 74, of Park Falls, WI, passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2022, at his home with his wife by side. Carl was born on November 7, 1947, to Andrew and Adeline (Tank) Hocher, in Park Falls, WI.
Carl attended and graduated from school in Butternut. He met Patricia Kotke at Cozy Town Cafe. They began dating before he joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, before being sent to fight in the Vietnam War. He drove an Armored Personnel Carrier and served with the 3rd Armored Infantry Division. Carl earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star through his dedicated service. He was Honorably Discharged in 1971 after being wounded in the line of duty. Carl and Patty were married in 1970 when he was on leave from the military. Carl enjoyed bowling, playing cards, hunting, and playing baseball. In his later years, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, attending their school events, and camping with family.
He is survived by his wife, Patty; children, Jo (Tom) Waltenberg and Trish (Travis) Anderson; grandchildren, Abigail and Keagan Zillmer, Patrick Waltenberg; and great-granddaughter, Ava Waltenberg; brother, Andrew (Stacy) Hocher; and sister, Ann Cooley; brother-in-law, Dan (Nancy) Kotke; sister-in-law, Kathy Kotke; and many other nieces and nephews.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; 3 brothers-in-law; and best friend and beloved dog, Brownie CoCo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 276 S 5th Ave, Park Falls, WI 54552, with Rev. Shaji Joseph Pazhukkathara officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in NOLA Cemetery, Park Falls, WI. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
