Carla Denzine

September 29, 1960 — March 7, 2022

Carla Kay Denzine, 61, of Phillips, WI, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, March 7, 2022. She was born on September 29, 1960, to Carl and Delores (Wuorenma) Erickson in Frederic, WI.

Carla grew up one of eight children, on a farm in rural Wisconsin. Carl and Delores ran a tight ship, but one filled with mischief and love. They took in extras who needed a roof over their heads, and everyone pitched in to make things work. As a child, Carla was known for being gullible and innocent-her brothers and sisters could talk her into just about anything.

When Carla was grown, she settled down in Luck, WI, with her first husband. They had two children, Erin and Evan, and a robust social life. Carla worked in the local nursing home for many years, and it was widely known what a wonderful and selfless caregiver she was. Carla often got her children involved with her favorite residents at the nursing home, and they enjoyed many visits there. Carla modeled to her children kindness and patience, love and humility.

Carla had many hobbies throughout her life, but while she lived in Luck, you could often find her engrossed in a riveting game of 500 Rummy with her best friend, or poring over a jigsaw puzzle as big as the kitchen table. She loved crosswords and was one heck of a cook. All looked forward to her delicious fudge at Christmas time, or her fluff up salad.

Later on, Carla eventually relocated and settled with her husband, Tim, in Phillips, WI, where she enjoyed all the finer parts of country living. It was here she found fulfillment, along with additional family who loved and accepted her.

Carla was also an animal lover. Phone conversations usually involved very detailed updates about her furry loves, and she cared very deeply for them and their well-being.

Most of all, Carla was a good and accepting friend to all. She could always be counted on to lend a non-judgmental ear, and gave the kind of hugs that warmed you from the inside out. She wore her heart on her sleeve, and those who were lucky enough to know her love could always feel how fierce and strong it was.

Carla is survived by her husband, Tim; children, Erin (Jeff) Tietz and Evan Tietz; stepchildren, Tim Denzine Jr., Jason Denzine, Chad (Erika) Denzine, Amy (Tony) Wohlt, and Kyle Denzine; 7 grandchildren; Samara and Maddox, Bentley, Connor and Adam, Weston and Bennett; siblings, Robert Erickson, Connie Talmadge, Russ (Terri) Erickson, Rod Erickson, and Ron (Sharon); and sister-in-law, Tina; along with many, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Sadly, Carla was no stranger to heartache. She suffered many losses throughout her life, including two husbands. She is also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Colleen; brother, Raymond; and brother-in-law Jim. Despite her losses, however, she remained an optimistic person.

There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, March 19, 2022, from 12-3 at Crane Chase Tavern, N10105 Co Rd F, Phillips, WI, 54555. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
