Carol J. Smelcer, age 75, of Kahn Road, Tomahawk, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 29, 2013 at her home.
Carol was born on January 7, 1938 in Wausau, Wisconsin to the late John and Lottie (Buettner) Keck. She was first married to Donald Doede on June 9, 1956. In December of 1980 she married Charles Smelcer, he passed away in 1999. Carol was a 1956 Graduate of Wausau East High School, and lived in Elk Grove Village, IL for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Tomahawk Lions Club, the Tomahawk American Legion Auxiliary, and the Women's Order of the Moose in Wausau. She enjoyed being outdoors, camping, embroidering, knitting, and sewing.

Carol is further survived by ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, second husband Charles Smelcer, daughter, Connie, sister, Diane Trull, and a brother, Bim Keck.
Funeral Services for Carol Smelcer will be held on Monday, August 5, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. Rev. Mark Schoenherr will officiate. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau. The family will receive friends at the church Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:00 a.m.
