Cecil Bishop

July 30, 1939 — August 23, 2023

Winter

Cecil Frank Bishop aged 84 years young was reunited with the love of his life Bertha Mae Bishop on August 23, 2023, in Phillips, WI.

Cecil was born on the family farm in Winter, WI July 30, 1939, the son of Frank and Esther (Demmin) Bishop.  He married the love of his life Bertha Mae Allen, on February 13, 1965, in Alton IL., and later that same year returned to Winter where they took over the Bishop Dairy Farm in the Thornapple District and resided there for 49 years while raising their daughters Michelle and Ida. Cecil was best known as a farmer and grower, but he drove school bus for many years and represented the drivers as a Union rep. He later became a chef under Bertha’s tutelage and cooked for several years at The Evergreen Inn, the family supper club where they developed numerous friends. He believed that hard work made the dream work and was always one to push through when the going got tough and to do whatever it took as long as it took. But he also believed when it was time to have fun then it was time to have FUN.  Whether it was going for a picnic and a swim or picking berries or playing cards at card parties or dancing till the crack of dawn he lived for the time with family and friends. He and Bertha lived by the adage that perseverance led to character and character led to hope and everything hinged on hope.   And instilled that adage into his daughters.

Cecil is survived by both his daughters and their families: Michelle (Kai) Kelly and Ida (Richard) Kinsley, Grandchildren, Misty (Dan) Kubicz Yaworski and Marcus (Ginger) Kubicz and Great Grandchildren Amiya Kubicz Yaworski and Serena Kubicz.  His Sister Yvonne Rusk and many nieces and nephews and their extended families.

Cecil was preceded in death by his loving wife Bertha, both parents, his sister Irene Hammer-Kozik, sister Mae Anderson, brother Ted Bishop, sister Lois Carlson, sister Janet Butler and brother Lee Bishop.
