Charles E. Baars, age 84, of 1931 Birch Ave., Tomahawk, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 in the emergency room of Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital. Chuck was born on August 18, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Nathaniel and Alice (Sonnenberg) Baars. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He Married Micky Fedder on July 18, 1987 in Tomahawk. Chuck was well known for his pizza's, he was the founder of Chuck & Jim's Pizza in French Town 41 years ago, the business later changed to Chuck & Tim's Pizza. Chuck also owned and operated The Shed Restaurant in Tomahawk from 1974 to 1982. He and his wife, Micky, then opened, in 1987 the Downtowner Restaurant which they ran until 1998. Chuck retired in 2000. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, gambling, cheering on Greg Biffle, and any team playing against the Packers. Chuck will be greatly missed by his family and his beloved dogs.
Survivors include: Wife, Micky 2 Sons, Daniel Baars Tomahawk Cory Baars Tomahawk 2 Daughters, Veralin (Steve) Higgins Tomahawk Lila (Timothy) O'Leary IV Tomahawk 3 Step Children, Anthony Denison Tomahawk Tracy (Eugene) Steinbach Tomahawk Jodie (Arnold) Whiteley Rock Hill, SC 2 Sisters, Carol Janko Milwaukee Audrey Rahn Milwaukee Chuck is further survived by 13 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robert Baars, 3 Sisters, and a step granddaughter, Jamie Denison.
Funeral Services with Military Tribute will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. from the Krueger Family Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Mathein will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00.
