Charles “Chuck” Holoubek, 75, Phillips, died on Thursday, November 17, 2016, at the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, while under the care of Flambeau Home Health Care and his family.
He was born on December 29, 1940, in East Chicago, Indiana, the son of Charles and Helen (Mindock) Holoubek.
He moved to Phillips as a child with his family. He attended and graduated from Phillips High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in Da Nang Province from 1963 to 1965. He was married to Kathryn Rundquist on May 15, 1965, in Phillips. He was employed as a welder at the former Omark Industries, Prentice then as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips until the time of his retirement. After his retirement he was employed by the City of Phillips as the caretaker for the Phillips Pavillion.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lane-Kreiling American Legion Post #122, both of Phillips, and the Rocky Mountain Elks Foundation.
He was actively involved with the Military Honors Program for Veterans funerals, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the Packers while enjoying his favorite snack popcorn.
He is survived by his wife Kathryn “Kay” Holoubek, by 1 son: Pastor Scott (Christine) Holoubek, all of Phillips, by 1 brother: John (Mary) Holoubek, Milwaukee, by 1 sister Helen Person, Phillips, by nieces and nephews, and by his 2 dogs Ollie and Charlie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by 1 brother Henry, and by 1 infant brother Carl.
A memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at 11:00A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Phillips, with Pastor John Trewyn and Pastor Scott Holoubek officiating. Inturnment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Phillips at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Military Honors will be conducted by the Lane-Kreiling American Post #122 and the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post #5778, both of Phillips.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, is in charge of the arrangements.
