Charles Edward Harrold, Jr.
Charles E. Harrold, Jr, 86, Phillips, formerly of Greensburg, Pa., died on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips, while under the care of Flambeau Home Health Care and Hospice and Aspirus Pleasant View staff.
He was born on April 15, 1930, the son of Charles Edward, Sr. and Jessie Harrold.
He has 3 sons and 4 daughters, including Shirley Smiley, Simi Valley, Ca., who survives.
Survivors also include Charlie’s “adopted” daughters Patti Van Cleve and Sue Canney, both of Wausau, also Sarah (Adam) Hood, San Francisco, Ca., and Scott Van Cleve, Wausau, both who knew Charlie as “grandpa”.
A stubborn German but with a heart of gold, once you became Charlie’s friend, you became family to him. He had a gift for gab and a sense of humor that made him a fun person.
Besides being an avid Packers and Badgers fan Charlie enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, riding his Harley, listening to his ham radio and being a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, where he earned the Fellowship degree.
Charlie loved traveling all over the country when he was a semi driver (with his Pug Teddy as his co-pilot). He also worked for 2510 Restaurant and Abby Vans before retiring and moving to Phillips, a town he always loved.
A special “Thank You” goes out to the staffs at Regency House and Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, for treating Charlie with such kindness.
There are no services being planned at this time.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, is in charge of the arrangements.
