Charles J. Regner

Charles James Regner, 89, of Phillips, passed away March 13, 2022, at Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home with his family by his side.
Chuck was born in Phillips on June 18, 1932, to Lawrence and Bessie (Jerousek) Regner. He was just 11 years old when he started his first job at the cranberry marsh, where he stayed until he dropped out of school his sophomore year then headed to Alaska with his buddy, Don Gilbert. There he ran dozer for geological readings for the Alaskan pipeline. On a trip to Ohio, he was in a fire that put him in the hospital, his nurse at the time was Martha Johnson. They later married in Oregon and enjoyed 40 years of marriage.
He was drafted in 1953 and served his four years in Georgia and Virginia. After being discharged he and Martha moved to Cicero, IL where he was a over the road trucker until he started his own trucking business, C&M Auto Body. In 1972 Charles moved his family and business back to his hometown of Phillips where he lived out the rest of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and polka dancing. He was a member of the American Legion in Phillips and Pittsville. In his spare time, he helped organize charities for the Children's Miracle Network.
Charles is survived by his children, Bonnie (Greg) Welch of Ogema, Chuck (Annie) of Wausau, Sharon (Ron) Kempton of Green Bay, Linda (Pete) Linden of Phillips, and Patty of Westboro; his fiancé and companion of 18 years, Rita Schiller of Pittsville; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Peggy Warren; his parents; brothers, Lawrence and Clarence; sister, Alice Seeburger; son-in-law, Don Warren; 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
There will be a Graveside Service in the spring at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Phillips, WI. Please check back for a date and time. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
