Charles Thomas Nomady, age 76, of N11884 Deer Lake Road East, Tomahawk, Wisconsin, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2007, on the Palliative Care unit of St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Chuck was born on April 28, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, to Charles, Sr. and Anna Fournier Nomady. He married Janice Cook on February 17, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and was a member of the American Legion in Tomahawk and VFW of Colby, Wisconsin. Chuck taught physics and chemistry at Colby High School for 29 years, retiring in 1987. He received his Bachelor's degree from UW-Stevens Point, Master's Degree from UW-Stout and did further graduate work at Notre Dame University. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Colby and later in Tomahawk and Rhinelander, Wisconsin, a member of the Colby Lions Club for 28 years, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Colby. One of Chuck's dreams was to personally build his retirement home on the lake property which was purchased in 1965. This he accomplished. The family has lived permanently at the current address for the last 20 years. He received his private pilot's license, loved flying and attending the Experimental Aircraft Association fly-in in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He was an active member of the Friends of the Tomahawk Airport. He also enjoyed reading, hunting, and antique cars. Chuck was an avid Packer Backer, a gourmet cook and also appreciated a good hot dog with mustard and relish (the only way to eat a hot dog). Chuck was a compassionate, talented husband, father, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him. Survivors include: Wife, Janice 1 Daughter, Katherine Nomady Round Rock, TX 1 Son, Thomas C. (Jana) Nomady Mosinee, WI 1 Brother, Paul (Dorothy) Nomady Jacksonville, IL 1 Sister, Beverly (Charles) Cunha Naples, FL Chuck is further survived by 2 grandsons, Mathew DelFatti and Kyle Nomady and one great grandson, Zachary Rocha. Memorial Services for Charles Nomady will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2007, at 1:30 PM at the United Methodist Church, Tomahawk, WI. Military Rites will follow services. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 12:30 PM until the hour of services at 1:30 PM.
