Christopher J. Bartelt, age 46, of Rhinelander, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016 at the Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington, WI under the care of Heartland Hospice. Christopher was born on November 22, 1969 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Richard & the late Diane (Lane) Bartelt. He attended Tomahawk School where he played football and wrestled through High School. Chris was a 1988 graduate of THS. Right after graduation, Chris joined the US Navy. After an honorable discharged, Chris settled back into the Northwoods. He was a Fire Instructor at Nicolet Area Technical College in his most recent years. He loved being in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was also a Harley enthusiast. Chris had a big heart and cared so much for others. Chris is survived by Daughter, Rhealeigh Bartelt, of Iowa Parents, Dick & Mary Bartelt, of Tomahawk 3 Brother, Brian (Cindy) Bartelt, of West Bend Tim Erdmann, of Rhinelander Brad Bartelt, of Merrill He is further survived by his God father, Glenn Bogenschneider, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Chris is preceded in death by his mother, Diane Bartelt, and infant daughter, Danielle Rose. The Funeral Service for Christopher J. Bartelt will take place at 6PM on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Krueger Family Funeral Home in Tomahawk. Pastor Jeremy Vander Galien & Pastor Hans Heissinger will officiate. Visitation will take place on Friday from 2PM until the time of service at 6PM. Burial will take place at 1PM on Saturday, February 13 at Union Grove Cemetery in Harshaw. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Christopher's name can be made to the Ronald McDonald House. The Krueger Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
