Clare "Cal" "Picks" Callaway, age 97, 3591 Bearskin Creek Lane, Tomahawk, passed away September 15, 2011 at Ministry St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander.
Cal was born January 9, 1914 in Chippewa Falls, the son of Richard and Rosa Belle (Sabin) Callaway. He was a graduate of Wausau High School, where he played halfback and cornerback for the football team. He worked as a dental technician. Cal formerly lived in the Madison/Prescott areas, where he was a member of The Barbershop Quartet. He later moved to Arizona, and recently moved to Tomahawk to be near his family. Cal enjoyed woodworking - making furniture and clocks until he was 96 years old. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, oil painting, and raised parakeets. He was an avid musky fisherman, avid snowmobiler, and an avid Arizona Diamondbacks fan.

Cal is further survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for Clare "Cal" "Picks" Callaway will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from Nitardy Funeral Home, 208 N. Park St., Cambridge, WI 53523 (608)423-3414. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday October 9th from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at 2:00 p.m.
