CLIFTON ‘CLIFF’ WAYNE PALMER
Clifton “Cliff” W. Palmer, 73, Town of Elk, died on Friday, January 22, 2016 at his home.
He was born on December 15, 1942, in Phillips, the son of Wayne C. and Eleanor M. (Brown) Palmer. He attended and graduated from Colfax High School, Colfax, Wi with the Class of 1960. Following high school he served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1962. He was married to Susan E. Linger on December 28, 1982, in Buckeye Lake, Ohio. He was employed as an over the road trucker for over 42 years prior to his retirement.
He was a member of Victory Christian Center, Phillips, the Prentice Bowling League, the Phillips Antique Assn, and the Friday Bowling League in Phillips. He was an active 31 year member of AA. He started many groups, was an
Area 74 delegate and was a sought after speaker for AA. Among his other hobbies he enjoyed draft horses, horse pulling contests, was a horseshoe player, playing cards especially cribbage, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Susan, Town of Elk, by 4 children: Douglas (Sandi) Palmer, Boyceville, Wi., Joseph (Schwerin) Palmer, Monroe, N.C., Cami (Tom) Kannegrisser, New Ulm, Minn., and Shawn Palmer, Twin Cities, Minn., by 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, by 2 stepsons; David Linger and Steven (Kathy) Linger, all of Newark, Oh., by 1 brother: Charles (Donna) Palmer, and 1 sister: Margaret (Dale) Wolfe , all of Colfax, Wi..
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by 1 son Lloyd.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 27, at Victory Christian Center, Phillips, with Pastor Carol Gabrielsen officiating. Interment will be in the Harmony Cemetery, Township of Harmony in the spring.
Friends may call at the Victory Christian Center, Phillips on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, after 5:30 P.M. and again on Weds. Jan. 27, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, is in charge of the arrangements.
