Darlene Nystrom

Darlene M. Nystrom, age 89, longtime Tomahawk resident, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice. Darlene was born on August 17, 1930 in Tomahawk to Julius & Gertrude (Winker) Fehringer. She was married to LeRoy “Lee” Nystrom on January 27, 1949 in Bullhead City, AZ; he preceded her in death in 2002. Darlene was a 1948 graduate of Tomahawk High School. She and Lee lived in Cedarburg from the time they married in 1949 until 1994. While living there, Darlene was the secretary for Cedarburg School District. In 1994, they moved to Tomahawk. She loved going to the casinos with friends and playing cards. Darlene enjoyed singing, and sang with the Cedar Singers Choral Group. Darlene was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Darlene is survived by her loving daughter, Julie (Peter) Hulka, of Tomahawk and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; & one son, Carl. A Memorial Mass for Darlene Nystrom will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 21, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Visitation will precede Mass from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Tomahawk. The Krueger Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
