Darlene Ruth Gore

September 6, 1935 — May 2, 2018

Darlene “Dar” Gore, age 82 passed away on Wednesday May 2, 2018 at Howard Young Medical Center with her daughter by her side. Dar was born in Chicago, Illinois to Al and Ruth Godfrey. Dar was the oldest of four children, “The Four D’s”.
Dar married her husband Lew in 1964. She worked her entire life in accounting and finance, retiring from the Village of Westmont.
In Illinois, Dar and Lew loved going to their seasonal camper most weekends, where they had a great time with a group of friends. Dar enjoyed playing bingo and working on crafts. She made pine cone wreaths and decorations that were enjoyed by many, and then progressed into ceramics and combined the two into custom creations.
Upon retirement, Dar and Lew moved to Manitowish Waters. Dar enjoyed working at the Village Soda Grill on an occasional basis where she drank coffee and socialized with the patrons who then became friends. Dar has always been a supporter of local organizations and enjoyed playing pull tabs. She also enjoyed playing games and socializing with her friends at LakeShore Assisted Living where she resided. Most of all she loved playing cribbage with her friends in Manitowish Waters. Dar loved to socialize and have fun.
Dar is survived by her daughter LuAnn (Mark) Smit, son John Gore, sister Diane Boyer, brother Dan (Carol) Godfrey and many nieces and nephews. Dar was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lew, sister Donna, and several beloved dogs.
Memorial Services for Dar will be held on Thursday, May 10th at 11:00 AM at Manitowish Waters Community Church.
The family would like to thank the staff at LakeShore Assisted Living who provided great care and most of all, friendship to Dar.
