David Lehnherr

David E. Lehnherr, age 73, N11598 Woodland Drive, Tomahawk, (mailing address P. O. Box 81, Heafford Junction, WI 54532), passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk. Dave was born December 9, 1938 in Marshfield, the son of Herman and Bernice (Bartell) Lehnherr. He married Marleen Lessmann on May 25, 1962 in Ephrata, Washington. Following serving his country for four years in the United States Air Force, Dave went to work in the aerospace industry; first with Boeing Aircraft, and later with AMF, Paul Hardman, and also worked for NASA at Cape Canaveral. He and Marleen moved to Tomahawk and ran Honeymoon Bay Resort from 1963 to 1968. He then went to work as the Director of National Accounts Loss Control with Sentry Insurance, and retired in 1992 after 40 years of service with the company. Following his retirement, Dave and Marleen moved to Tomahawk permanently in 1992. He was a member of Fishing Unlimited and a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Dave was an avid gardener who was well-known for growing large squash. He was instrumental in organizing the bell ringing in Tomahawk for the Salvation Army. Survivors include: Wife of 50 years Marleen Lehnherr Heafford Junction Children D'Lacey (Tim) Haight Merrill Carrie (Joseph) Kearney Chippewa Falls Dave is further survived by three grandchildren - Benjamin and Joshua Haight, and Riley Kearney. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his aunt - Beulah Bartell. A Memorial Service with Military Rites for Dave Lehnherr will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Mark Ziemer will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m.
