David L. Streicher, Sr., age 79, 2108 Hazy Bay Road, Tomahawk, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013 at his residence.
Dave was born June 3, 1934 in Kewanee, Illinois, the son of William and Edyth (Johnson) Streicher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. Dave was a route salesman with Bakerite/Tastee Bakery in Rhinelander for 36 years, retiring in 1996. Dave was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk, and a former member of the Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and started the Tomahawk Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. Dave also enjoyed camping and traveling, visiting many cities in the U.S. in his motorhome. Some of Dave's other hobbies include: card playing, shooting pool, golfing, and making people laugh. He lived, laughed, and loved life to the fullest.
Survivors include: wife, Jean Streicher, Tomahawk; children, David (Terry) Streicher, Jr., Union Grove, Thomas (Jacqui) Streicher, Onalaska, Dawn Streicher, Manitowish Waters; brothers, William Streicher, Tomahawk, Donald (Ellinor) Streicher, Janesville. Dave is further survived by five grandchildren, Jason, Terissa, Jennifer, Daniel, and Anthony, and three great grandchildren, Alyssa, Abigail, and Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers.
A Memorial Mass with Military Honors for Dave Streicher will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 3, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. Edward Powell will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of Mass at 12:00 Noon.
