DAWN ARLINE HERTLEIN
Dawn A. Hertlein, 92, died peacefully in her sleep at Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips on Friday, September 25, 2015.
She was born on March 2, 1923 to John and Mamie (Zapfe) Meskill in the Town of Emery. Her early life and schooling was in Emery.
She was married to Raymond Dunbar, who died early in their marriage. They had one daughter. After WWII she married John Hertlein. They added five children to the family.
She was a faithful wife, Mother, and Grandmother, as she farmed to keep food on the table. She was well known for her love and hospitality.
Gardening, baking, and cooking were her passions, and she was famous for her home-made bread, potato salad, and fried venison.
She was a member of the Word of Life Family Church formerly the Full Gospel Lighthouse.
She is survived by five children: Grace (Arlyn) Kielsmeier, Diane (John) Hlavacek, John J. (Joanne) Hertlein, Bill (Teresa) Hertlein, and Carl (Pat) Hertlein, all of Phillips., by 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and 2 sisters: Lenore Velardo and Ann (Ray) Bader.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husbands by 1 son Randy, by 4 brothers: Jim, Mike, Neil and Jack Meskill, and by 3 sisters: Rena Weisinger, Leila Gerich and Faith Montagna.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at the Word of Life Church, Phillips, with Pastor Terry Sellers officiating. Interment will be in the Emery Cemetery, Town of Emery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips is in charge of the arrangements.
