David 'Dick' Calhoun, age 80, 2015 Indian Pine Point Rd., Tomahawk, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 13, 2010 under home hospice care. Dick was born July 7, 1930 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Robert and Florence (Johnson) Calhoun. He was formerly married to Elaine Pyykonen; she passed away in 2001. He then married Karen Duellman on March 24, 2001 in Tomahawk. Dick owned and operated Tomahawk Sports Center for the past 44 years. Snowmobiling was Dick's passion. He was awarded 1989 Dealer of the Year by the International Snowmobile Council, the 1990 Snowmobile Dealer of the Year by the Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs, the 1998 Most Valuable Snowmobiler by Snowmobile Magazine, the 2004 Dealer of the Year by the Harshaw Wanderers, and the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Lake Nokomis Concerned Citizens, Knight Owls, Northwoods Riders, Northwoods Passage, and Harshaw Wanderers Snowmobile Clubs. Dick was a U.S. Navy Veteran, and a member of the American Legion Bronsted Searl Post #93 in Tomahawk and the Tomahawk Lions Club. Survivors include: Wife Karen Calhoun Tomahawk Daughters Susan (John) Edwardsen Debra (Terry) Travis both of Tomahawk Sons Jeff Calhoun Dan Calhoun Tim (Jennifer) Calhoun all of Tomahawk Step Daughters Amy Besse Stevens Point Brenda Besse Robin Myre both of Tomahawk Brothers Gary (Judi) Calhoun Gene (Lennie) Calhoun James (Bev) Calhoun all of Tomahawk Bob (Jane) Gatz California Sisters Mary Lou (Jack) Lund Deanna Olson both of Dresser Dick is further survived by 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 5 step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his 1st wife - Elaine, and brothers - Robert, Donald, Elmer, Charles, and George Clark. Funeral Services with Military Tribute for Dick Calhoun will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2010 from Grace Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends at Krueger Family Funeral Home on Thursday, December 16th from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., and again at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. View the obituary and send online condolences at: www.kruegerfamilyfuneral.com
