Don Richards, age 84, was called to heaven on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 after a non-covid related extended illness. Don was born in Milwaukee November 16, 1936 to William and Loretta (Laabs) Richards. He married Nola Sue Harnack of Kiel on September 22, 1962. He worked at OMC Evinrude Motors as a machinist for 37 years, driving from their hobby farm in Waldo for 21 of those years. Don and Nola had many happy years in Waldo, making many friends who became as close as family. After retirement in 1993, they moved to their beloved northwoods home in St. Germain. He later worked for NAPA in Minocqua until June of 2020. Don and Nola hunted, fished and snowmobiled together. Don was a member of the St. Germain Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club and The Apple Dumpling Gang. He was an avid snowmobiler for 50 plus years.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Nola, his daughters: Dawn (Joe) Schneider of St. Germain, Kasey (Troy) Klein of Waldo, son Jeff (Sharleen) Lancaster, CA. Grandchildren: Heather (Nathan Zabel) of Conover, Tanner (Noel) Klein of Eau Claire, Taylor (Evan) Schrauth of Waupun, Jennifer Richards of New Braunfels, TX. Great-Grandchildren: Briella, Isaiah, Kye, Abcde. Siblings: Karen (Gary) Tennyson of Pewaukee and Bill (Joyce) Richards of Milwaukee. Many beloved nieces and nephews along with special family friends, Randy and Gina Walter of Cascade.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Emmy Lou and Andy Cyrus of Adell.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Upon his wishes, cremation will take place with internment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
