Donald M. Sedlak, age 81 of Woodruff, WI died on Monday, April 26th at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff, WI. Don was born on August 9, 1939 in Riverside, IL the son of Milton and Lillian (nee Hulonek) Sedlak. Don graduated from Lyons Township High School.
“If you Didn’t Buy Your Last Car From SEDLAK You Paid Too Much”, Don loved the automobile business. In 1968 he bought the Chevrolet dealership in Minocqua, and shortly after acquired Buick and Pontiac. Eventually he moved his family from Chicago to live in Minocqua where he spent many summers of his youth at the family summer home on Mid Lake. In 2017, he retired after 50 years.
Don loved good food. From his mother’s Czech cooking to the many great restaurants in Chicago, his tastes were many. He traveled many miles over the years making weekly business trips to Chicago. He could often be found in Greektown or Gene and Georgetti’s.
Although Don spent most of his time tending to the dealership, he also enjoyed boating and fishing on the lakes in Minocqua. He also liked snowmobiling, tinkering in the garage and fishing in Canada with his good friends, Ernie and Bobby.
Over the years he spent a lot of time at his condo in New Smyrna Beach, FL walking on the beach and relaxing in the sun. In most recent years, Don’s health kept him from traveling. His time was spent at home with his family.
He is survived by his children Debbie (David) Kendall, Dawn Sedlak and Richard “Dick” (Kellie) Sedlak and by his grandchildren Jocelyn Kendall, Melissa Day and Timothy Sedlak and great grandchildren Benjamin and Peyton.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Lillian and daughter Diane and grandson Michael and his former wife Ellen Sedlak.
The Sedlak family would like to extend thanks to the ER and ICU staff and Adam Johnson at Howard Young Medical Center.
Visitation for Don will be held on Monday, May 3rd from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, WI with a Funeral Service at 12:00 noon followed by burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Woodruff, WI
