Donald Charles Meetz, 87, joined his Lord and Savior Tuesday, the 16th of April 2024.
Donald was born the 10th of February 1937 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin to Charles and Mildred (Snell) Meetz. The second of three sons, Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Dale.
As a youth, Donald often spent time on his grandparents' farms in the Outagamie and Brown County area where he enjoyed the many animals and developed a special lifelong fondness for beagles.
A proud, 1955 West Wildcat graduate of Green Bay-West Highschool, Donald played coronet in the school band and served as a student manager for the football team.
During later high school years Don worked parttime at various service-oriented jobs. After graduation he was employed with the Liberty, full-service gasoline station located on west Velp Avenue. Later Don was employed with Brockway Trucking, Green Bay Soap, the Green Bay and Western Railroad and completed his working career with W.R. Grace manufacturing.
Donald's recreational activities included league softball, team league bowling, and hunting for White-tailed Deer, Ruffed-Grouse, and pursuing Snowshoe hares with his beloved beagles. For years, Don was traveling team manager for the USHL semi-pro Green Bay Bobcat's hockey. Donald was a member of the Green Bay, Washington #21 Masonic Lodge. After retirement He served the Green Bay school system as a safety crossing guard.
Relocating to Price County Wisconsin, Donald joined the Phillips #225 Masonic Lodge a proud member and diligent in its mission of service.
Donald quickly formed numerous community friendships and was a devoted member of the Saint John Lutheran Church congregation.
Donald is survived by his younger brother, Duane (Nancy) Meetz, Pestigo, Wisconsin; nephew, Cully Meetz, Hendersonville, North Carolina, nephew, Michael (Linda) Meetz, Nevada, Iowa; niece, Kathy Meetz, Springdale, Pennsylvania; niece, Kim (Meetz) Griffin, Mountain Home, Arkansas; cousins: Kenneth Kraft, Medford ,Wisconsin; Shelby Gillette, DePere, Wisconsin; Donna (Jerry) Geise, Green Bay, Wisconsin; Tom (Karen) Meetz, Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin; Gale Mullendore, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; many other cousins, Four grandnieces, two grandnephews 4great-grandnieces and 1 great-grandnephew.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Saint John Lutheran Church, 120 Forest Avenue, Phillips, Wisconsin 54555. Visitation will start one hour prior to service. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
