Donald J. Winker, age 76, of Tomahawk, passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2021.
Don was born on January 31, 1945 in Tomahawk to James & Ruth (Kuehling) Winker. He was married to Lori Jones on July 18, 1970 in Bessemer, MI. Don worked as a mechanic for Engleman’s Chevy Dealership and Bill K. Chevrolet. He also worked for Calhoun’s Auto before starting at the Tomahawk Paper Mill. Don worked at the mill from 1983 and retired in 2007. He loved snowmobiling, fishing and four wheeling. Don also enjoyed trips to the casino with his sisters and restoring cars. Don also restored two tractors alongside his very best buddy, grandson Alex.
Don is survived by his wife – Lori Winker of Tomahawk; daughter – Keri (Josh) Sherman of Tomahawk; brother and sisters – Bill (Lucille) Winker, Mary Kinlein, Jane Reed & Nancy (Jerry Kall, all of Tomahawk. Don is further survived by his two grandchildren – Alex & Megan Sherman and brother-in-law – Tom (Trish) Gane. He is preceded in death by two sisters – Suz & Kate.
Don’s family will celebrate his life privately.
