Donna M Imig

Donna Mae Imig, age 90, of Tomahawk went home to be with our Lord and to be joyfully reunited with her loving husband, Lloyd Imig, on March 18, 2022. Donna passed peacefully at Cumberland Heights Assisted Living in Rhinelander, with her loving niece Brenda Peterson by her side. Donna was born in Antigo, Wisconsin, on January 13, 1932, to Alphonse and Marie (Draeger) Hanke. Her family set down their roots in Tomahawk, where she attended school until her graduation in 1950. Donna then went on to graduate from St. Joseph’s Nursing School. Donna moved to Milwaukee to pursue her nursing career. It was while she lived in Milwaukee that she met the love of her life, Lloyd Imig. The two were married in 1959 and began their adventure as a married couple. In 1964 they were blessed with a son. Their adventures took them from Milwaukee to Colorado to Wausau, WI, where they settled as a family. They started and owned Avian Publications together, all while Donna continued working as an RN, taking care of each of her patients like family. In 1985 Donna and Lloyd were separated when he went home to be with our Father in Heaven. Donna continued working as a nurse until she retired and returned to her family home and hometown of Tomahawk in 1992. She was faithful and active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Donna is survived and will be missed by her loving son James (Cheryl) Imig and her grandsons Matthew, Mark, Michael, and Mitchell all of Cedarburg Wisconsin. Donna also was loved and will be missed by her wonderful nephews (Barry, Mike, and Mitch Hanke and Allen Dillman) and nieces (Betty Enright and Brenda Peterson) and their families who took loving care of her. She is preceded in death by her granddaughter Barbara, her best friend and brother Lawrence Hanke and two infant siblings, Betty and Bobby. The Mass of Christian Burial for Donna will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church; Fr. Louis Maram Reddy will officiate. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. Burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau.
