DuWayne “Duke” Wilke, age 77, of Tomahawk, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Aspirus – Wausau Hospital.
Duke was born on April 17, 1939 in Watertown, WI to Benjamin & Estelle (Dawson) Wilke. He was married to Mary Williams in Delafield on September 26, 1959. Duke was a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local 139. In the winter months, Duke was a self-employed logger. He was great at making new roads and grading. He loved hunting & fishing, and enjoyed watching college football & the Green Bay Packers. After retirement, Duke & Mary spent their winters in Arizona. Together, they took many trips on their Harleys. Duke loved his family, especially time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Duke is survived by his loving wife - Mary, of Tomahawk; his four children – Mari (Craig) Kaufman, of Wewoka, OK; Brent Wilke, of Tomahawk; Cheyann (Hob) Habeck, of Tomahawk; and Clint (Erika) Wilke, of Wasilla, AK. He is further survived by 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
The Funeral Service for Duke Wilke will take place at 6:00PM on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church, in Tomahawk. Pastor Mark Ziemer will officiate. Visitation will take place at the church from 3:00PM until the time of service at 6:00PM. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
