Dwight Charles Richard of Tomahawk, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Golden Living Center-Riverview in Tomahawk. He was born in Crystal Falls, MI on March 21, 1912 to the Late Charles and Myrtie Richard. He attended school in Crystal Falls and graduated in 1931. He was married to Merle Walsh on November 27, 1935 in Crystal Falls; she passed away in 1992. Dwight was a county worker until 1943, when he went into the United States Army. Dwight spent two years as a Mess Sergeant, and was discharged in 1945. He worked as a Chef in Iron Mountain, MI, and later ran his own Restaurant until 1952. He then went to work for National Tea Company as a Meat Cutter until his retirement in 1972. He loved fishing, watching horse racing on TV, cooking, going to the casino, dog races and most of all, spending time with his family. Dwight is survived by his Daughter, Marlene A. Koth-Steffen of Tomahawk, his Son, Darryl D. (Patricia L. Archinal) of Frederick, MD, 10 Grandchildren, Debra (Bruce) Peterson of Beloit, WI, Kevin (Kim) Koth of Tomahawk, Jeffrey (Patricia) Koth of Tomahawk, Timothy (Colette) Koth of Rhinelander, Rex (Shelly) Richard of Merrill, Ricarda Klieber of Wausau, Krystal (James) Kelly of Rio Rico, AZ, Rod Richard of Merill, and Brendalyn and Brendan Richard. Dwight is further survived by 26 Great Grandchildren, 14 Great Great Grandchildren, and a Cousin, Tom Brooks of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his Parents, his Wife, Merle Richard in 1992, a Grandson, Richard Koth, a Great Granddaughter, Sherry Koth, and 2 Sons-in-law, Ellsworth Koth, and Leroy Steffen. Mass of Christian Burial for Dwight C. Richard will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 1 PM from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tomahawk. A Military Tribute will precede the service. Rev. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 11 AM until the time of funeral mass at 1 PM. Burial will be in the spring at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk.
