Edith (Vander Voort) Roberts, age 84, 127 E. Washington Ave., Tomahawk, passed away July 7, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Edith was born June 28, 1930 in Tomahawk, the daughter of Thomas and Jessie (Bell) Brown. She was married to John Vander Voort on June 12, 1948 in Tomahawk; he passed away April 3, 2005. She later married Richard Roberts on April 20, 2013. Edith was an enthusiastic volunteer, and spent time for the comfort of others at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Mount View Nursing Home, and Golden Age Nursing Home. She was also a blood donor, and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and enjoyed spending the winter months in Panama City Beach, Florida. In her younger years, Edith was a Scout Leader and enjoyed going on camping trips. Some of her other interests include: golfing, ceramics, and basket weaving. Edith was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk.
Survivors include: husband, Richard Roberts, Tomahawk; children, Jay (Bev Sorensen) Vander Voort, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ray (Rose Casadei) Vander Voort, New Hartford, New York, Beverly (Elroy) Raasch, Merrill, Mary Lou (Mike) Weigand, Mosinee, Darlyn (Jake) Waldner, Merrill; sister, Beverly (Ron) Martin, Negaunee, Michigan.
Edith is further survived by fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband - John Vander Voort, daughter - Evelyn Vander Voort, grandson - Jeremy Boehmert, brother - Emmett Brown, half-brother - Vern Bushar, Jr., and step-sister - Jeanne Neumeyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Edith Vander Voort - Roberts will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 11, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Father John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Krueger Family Funeral Home on Thursday, July 10th from 4:00 PM until the start of the Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk.
