Edward Charles Ramsey, 78, of Ballentine, South Carolina, formerly of Minocqua, Wisconsin passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, surrounded by his family. Born November 23, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, he was a son of the late Joseph and Pearl Ramsey. He attended Tillden High School and Trade School in Chicago. Edward was a retired painter contractor, working for the Chicago Sun Times building and the Chicago Civic Center before moving to Minocqua, Wisconsin, where he owned and operated the Pinewood Resort on Blue Lake with his family for thirty years. Mr. Ramsey was a former member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Minocqua and Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin. He attended St. Peters Catholic Church in Columbia, SC. Throughout his life, Ed was an avid fisherman enjoying many fishing trips to Canada and the Florida Keys. Edward formerly headed the building and zoning commission in Bolingbrook, Illinois. Mr. Ramsey was a former member of the Minocqua Lions Club and also worked in Boy Scouting in Minocqua. He also served on the board of directors of the Blue Lake Preservation Committee. In South Carolina, he was a member of the Lake Murray Senior Bass Club. Ed always loved woodworking and after retiring in 2003, he changed his hobby into a small woodworking business from his home in Ballentine. He is survived by his wife of forty five years, Joanne; his son, Kenneth Edward Ramsey of Ballentine, SC; and daughter Jennifer Marie Ramsey of Columbia, SC. Visitation will be held Friday, November 23rd evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel with Funeral Mass celebrated on Saturday, November 24 at 10:30 AM at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Lac du Flambeau with Father Lourdu Mandapati officiating.
