Edward G. Crofoot, age 80, longtime Tomahawk resident, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill where he had lived for the past 6 years.
Ed was born on January 25, 1937 in the town of Nokomis to Byron and Sybil (Smith) Crofoot. He married Ida Stelter on August 25, 1956 in Tomahawk. Ed served his country from 1956 to 1960 in the United States Air Force. He worked as an electronics engineer for Bendix Field Energy Corporation in Baltimore serving as a crew supervisor for the Apollo 11 Lunar landing. He also was in charge of signal acquisition for the Galileo, Viking, Mariner, and Voyager missions. Some of the electronics Ed helped get into space are still working today, 40 years later. He retired in 1991 and moved back to Tomahawk. He was a member of Fishing Unlimited, American Legion, and Tomahawk United Methodist Church. Ed also enjoyed hunting and woodworking.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, and two brothers, Charles and Byron Crofoot.
The Funeral Service with Military Rites for Ed Crofoot will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the United Methodist Church, Tomahawk. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 27 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at Krueger Family Funeral Home. Visitation for Ed will continue on Thursday at the church from 10:00AM until the time of service at 11:00AM. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery will take place in the spring.
