Edward Joseph Poupart, age 82 of Lac du Flambeau, WI was brought to life January 19, 1931 and was taken home January 1, 2014. Edward was a kind hearted man with a gentle and calm nature. Over the years he had many hobbies and interests, he liked baseball, bowling and the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. He was a collector of many items and had the most beautiful smile, he loved to listen to country music and was very proud of his flower garden that he made for his wife Deanna. He was a refined electrician and worked in the woods cutting wood most of his life. Edward graduated from Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota and shortly after enlisted in the US Army on September 18, 1950. He was honorably discharged on July 28, 1956 with 4 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service medal, Army Occupational Medal (Japan), Combat Infantry’s Badge, Korean Service medal, National Defense Service medal and Good Conduct medal. His last assignment and major command was with Headquarters 1st Bn 21st Infantry-Sig C at Fort Sheridan, Illinois and he served over three years overseas in Korea and Japan. Also, Edward was a member of the Lac du Flambeau American Legion Chicog-Skye Post 374. On May 17, 1958 Edward married Deanna Elizabeth Allen and had 5 Children: Natalie (Gilbert), Edward (Erika), Roxane, Nadine and Annette. He was blessed with 19 Grandchildren and 39 Great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends. Edward was the oldest Brother of family of eight; Thomas, Peter, Cappy, Flora, Jim, Biff and Buster. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Bluejacket Poupart, step-father, Joe Doud, Father, Thomas Owen Poupart and Brother, Jim Poupart and Several Aunts, Alma (Jack) Wolfe, Mabel (Harvey) LaBelle and many cousins and friends. Edward passed away at home surrounded by his family. In memory of our beloved father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend our family is sharing, “Gods Garden” poem: God's Garden God looked around the garden, And found an empty space. He looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful For He only takes the best. He knew that you were weary, and He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never be well on earth again. He saw the roads were getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids, and whispered peace be with you. Sleep in heavenly peace Dad. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, January 4th at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lac du Flambeau, WI.
