EDWARD R. SCHMIDT
Edward Ray Schmidt, 72, Medford, died on Wednesday, April 20, in the Aspirus Medford Hospital in Medford, WI. He was born in Phillips, WI, on November 29, 1943. For a short time he lived in Iowa, returning to Phillips at the age of 7. He attended Phillips area country schools and the Phillips High School. He was married to Margaret Ziegler at Saint John Lutheran Church in Phillips. He was employed as a Millwright by Georgia Pacific, Lionite, of Phillips for 38 years. Following retirement he and Margie moved to Medford, WI . In his free time he loved spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed 4 wheeling, hunting, and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Margie; by two children, Joy (Mark) Ryskoski, Medford, WI, and Mike (Glenn) Schmidt, Weston, WI; and by four grandchildren, Joshua, Megan, Aiden, and Lehna. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Gladys (Merfeld) Schmidt; and by one step-brother, Gary Morse.
At the family’s request, private family services are planned with inurnment to take place in the Saint Patrick Cemetery in Phillips
