Edward 'Eddie' Ziert, age 75, Tomahawk, passed away December 8, 2010 at Golden Living Center - Riverview in Tomahawk.
Eddie was born November 30, 1935 in the Town of Cassian, the son of Edward and Martha (Berg) Ziert. He served as a Medic in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1958 - 1960, and in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1961 - 1962. Eddie was united in marriage to Genevieve 'Gen' Hoebe on June 5, 1965 in Harrison. In 1968, Eddie began his career as an Officer with the Tomahawk Police Department, serving as Captain from 1975 until his retirement in 1997. Following his retirement, Eddie worked part-time on the Transport Team for the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department. He served on the Tomahawk School Board from May 1979 - April 2003, serving as President from 1984 - 2003. He also served on the CESA Board from May 1979 - April 2003, serving as Treasurer from 1985 - 2003. Before suffering a debilitating stroke, Eddie's hobbies included gardening, cutting firewood, and cooking. He was also an avid Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan.

Eddie is further survived by 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial and Military Tribute for Eddie Ziert will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 13, 2010 from St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 12th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Krueger Family Funeral Home in Tomahawk. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in at St. Augustine Cemetery in the Town of Harrison. Memorials to the family are appreciated.
