Eleanor Mae “Honey” Smart, 93, Phillips, Town of Worcester, died in the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips on Saturday, September 8, while under the care of her family and flambeau Home Health and Hospice.. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 5, 1924, the daughter of Frank and Mae Shramek. She was married to John Francis Smart on February 28 1943, in Chicago, Illinois. She and John owned and operated the A&W in Phillips during the 1970’s. She attended and earned a degree in Dietary Management at Northcentral Technical Institute –Wausau. She was employed in the dietary department of Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips for many years until the time of her retirement. She was a member of St. Therese of Lisieus Catholic Church of Phillips. In her free time she enjoyed watching and feeding birds and wild animals, listening to country music, playing bingo, spending time with her grandchildren, hosting holiday gatherings for her family, and flower gardening.
She is survived by four children, Michael (Karen), Phillips, Timothy (Cindy), Phillips, Kathleen, Ashland, and Theresa (Jeff) Jasurda, Phillips; by seven grandchildren, Kevin, Nick, Chris, Jill, Ben, Garret, and Kim; and by 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Francis, on January 19, 1977.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 18, at Saint Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Phillips with Father Gerald Hagen celebrating the Funeral Mass. Inurnment will be in the Saint Patrick Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, September 18, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
