Eleanor Sparks, age 83, of W5674 Honeymoon Bay Road, Tomahawk, passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 27, 2009 at her home.
She was born June 8, 1925 in Merrill to the late Andrew and Bena Olsen, and was married to Lloyd J. Sparks on Dec. 29, 1945 in Merrill. Eleanor grew up in Merrill and was a graduate of Merrill High School. She moved to the Tomahawk area from Wausau in 1945. She was employed at the Johnson Level Factory for 20 years, was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the quilting club, a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Ladies' Red Hat Club. Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her family. Eleanor and Lloyd loved traveling, and spent the winter months in Texas for many years before Lloyd's passing in 1991. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother - Ernest Olsen, and sister - Evelyn Brandt.
Funeral Services for Eleanor Sparks will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 from Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Rebecca Peters and Rev. Don Cannady will officiate. The family will receive friends from on Monday, March 2, 2009 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Krueger & Sons Funeral Home in Tomahawk, and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the spring at Prairie Rapids Cemetery in the Town of Nokomis.
