Elgard A. “Pete” Barttelt, age 95, of Benedictine Manor in Wausau, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017, under the care of Aspirus Home Hospice.
Pete was born on December 23, 1921, in the Town of Maine to Wilhelm & Martha (Uttecht) Barttelt. He was married to Lorna Woller in February of 1943; together they had 7 sons. Lorna preceded him in death in 2007. For most of his working career, Pete was a dairy farmer and also did construction work. He loved to hunt, fish and play cards. Pete was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stettin.
Pete is survived by his 7 sons – Elgard “J.R.” (Carolyn) Barttelt, Rhinelander; Jerome (LeAnne) Barttelt, Wausau; Dale (Linda) Barttelt, Sheboygan; Rodney Barttelt, Wausau, Kevin (Julie) Barttelt, Chelsea, MI; Russell (Lynette) Barttelt, Wausau & Brian Barttelt, Wausau. Pete is further survived by 2 brothers – Vilas (Mickey) Barttelt & Delbert (Marilyn) Barttelt, both of Wausau; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorna, and 4 sisters.
The funeral service for Elgard “Pete” Barttelt will take place at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at the Restlawn Memorial Park chapel in Wausau. Pastor Phil Bogen will officiate. Visitation for Pete will take place from 11:00AM until the time of service at noon. Burial will take place at Restlawn following the service.
